1. The ROK Government welcomes that the P5+1 -- the US, the UK, France, China, Russia and Germany -- and Iran agreed on the Political Framework for a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in Lausanne, Switzerland, on April 2, for the resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue. The ROK government appreciates the strenuous efforts by the countries concerned toward this agreement.

2. In addition, the ROK Government expects that the countries concerned, as agreed, will complete the JCPOA, including the verification mechanism by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), by the end of June, and thereby laying important groundwork for the resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue.

3. Furthermore, the ROK Government hopes that the Political Framework will contribute to regional peace and strengthening the international non-proliferation regime.
